    The Interaction Design Education Summit is meeting for it’s fourth year, this time in collaboration with Interaction 16’s education partner Aalto University.

    Each year, the Summit brings together design educators from research academia, design & art schools, vocational programs, corporate/industry training, and lower-ed (K-12) as well as industry practitioners to talk about how all of us can better fulfil IxDA’s mission of advancing the practice of interaction design.

Andy Budd

Andy Budd

UX Designer & CEO
Clearleft

User Experience Designer and CEO of Clearleft, Andy Budd is a best selling tech author, curates the dConstruct and UX London conferences and helped set-up The Brighton Digital Festival. Andy created Silverback, a low cost usability testing application for the Mac, and co-founded Fontdeck, a web typography start-up. Andy is a regular speaker at international conferences like SXSW, An Event Apart and The Next Web. Never happier than when he’s diving some remote tropical atoll, Andy is a qualified PADI dive instructor and retired shark wrangler?

Kim Goodwin

Kim Goodwin

VP of Product & User Experience
PatientsLikeMe

Kim Goodwin is a best selling author and has 20+ years of consulting and in-house UX experience. She is VP of Product and User Experience at PatientsLikeMe, a medical research platform and a social and decision-support network for patients. Kim also helps other organizations build their internal design capabilities through coaching and organizational change management.

Previously, Kim was VP of Design & General Manager at Cooper. During her 12 years there, Kim led an integrated practice of interaction, visual, and industrial designers, as well as the development of the Cooper U design curriculum.

Kim has led design and research projects in such diverse areas as health care, aviation, retail, communication, financial services, consumer, automotive, IT and others. She speaks and teaches at UX conferences globally. Although based near San Francisco, Kim is often in another time zone either “herding cats” in a conference room or photographing wildlife in places where Internet access doesn’t exist.

Xiangyang Xin

Professor and Dean, School of Design
Jiangnan University

Xiangyang Xin is Professor and Dean at the School of Design, Jiangnan University, Wuxi, China. Xin holds a PhD in Design from Carnegie Mellon University with research interests in interaction and service design, cultural studies, and product development. He looks at how design, both professionally and philosophically, contributes to transformations of lifestyles, businesses and societies.

Besides starting the first postgraduate program of Interaction Design in greater China at Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2007, Xin has organized series of conferences on interaction design for China. Currently, he is leading a “Redesign Design Education” movement in China. It aims to reform design education responding to the extending scope and evolving principles of design.

Xin’s contributions have been recognized and awarded as the Future Voice of Interaction Design 2015 by the IXDA, 2014 “Silver Medal of Contribution to Design” by Guanghua Design Foundation, and 2013 “10 Best Industrial Design Educators of China” from Chinese Industrial Design Association.
